One of the primary benefits of membership is the opportunity to impact the development of the Nation’s trust framework by participating in the DirectTrust Workgroups. Certificate Policy and Practices Workgroup

Workgroup Chair: Don Jorgenson (Inpriva)

 

Bi-Monthly Calls: Alternating Fridays at 2:00 ET

 

The main purpose of this workgroup has been to establish and maintain a Certificate Policy that will serve as a guide to Health Information Service Providers, HISPs, and their Certificate Authorities, CA, as they implement Direct exchange programs and services. The main objective of this workgroup is to address the anticipated needs for certificate policies and practices associated with the Ecosystem community.

Clinical Transitions of Care Workgroup

Workgroup Chair(s): Dr. David Kibbe (DirectTrust) and Dr. Holly Miller (MedAllies)

 

Bi-Monthly Calls: Alternating Fridays at 12:00 ET

 

In support of the three part aim: to improve care, enhance patient experience of care and decrease costs, the Clinical Transitions of Care Workgroup will focus on clinical best practice usage of Direct technology to develop seamless patient transitions of care and enhanced care coordination across the patient centered medical neighborhood.

Direct Directory Policy Workgroup

Workgroup Chairs: Bruce Schreiber (MaxMD) and Jim Fisher, PhD (MedAllies)

Bi-Monthly Calls: Alternating Tuesdays at 3:00 ET

The Direct Directory Policy Workgroup focus is to discuss and develop policy related to the proliferation of directories used by Direct implementers across the country. The goal of this group is to reflect the principles of openness and transparency that have guided DirectTrust member’s activities and grounded DirectTrust policy heretofore.

DirectTexting Workgroup

Workgroup Chairs: Bruce Schreiber (MaxMD)

 

Weekly Calls: Wednesdays at 11:00 am ET

 

The purpose of this workgroup is to design a set of specifications for DirectTexting that is interoperable across the DirectTrust network, secure, auditable, and HIPAA compliant in all respects. This workgroup may develop one or more apps for mobile devices to support DirectTexting at a national scale.

DirectTrust esMD Workgroup

Workgroup Schedule 

Mondays at 4:00 pm ET

Description: The DirectTrust esMD Workgroup is charged with creating a pathway for Direct exchange between health care providers and Medicare’s Electronic Signing of Medical Documents (esMD) program participants.   A core objective is to leverage DirectTrust’s established trust and identity infrastructure to facilitate necessary esMD services and any other related security services required for healthcare data exchanges.

FHIR Security and Trust Workgroup

Workgroup Chairs: Brian Ahier (Medicity) and Calvin Beebe, MD (Mayo Clinic)

Bi-Monthly Calls: Thursdays at 3:00 pm ET

This new Workgroup will concentrate on education and information as its first and primary charge.  The goal is to get ourselves on the same page, so to speak, and become fully informed about the technology, the status of FHIR as a standard, the work being done with the Argonaut Project, etc.  Eventually, the FHIR Security and Trust Workgroup may want to issue a set of recommendations and services that leverage the Security and Trust Framework of DirectTrust to the web services environment, so that it, too, could achieve scalable trust on a national basis.

Patient and Consumer Participation in Direct Workgroup

Workgroup Chairs: Lucy Johns, MPH (Independent patient/consumer advocate) and Renee Smith (Walgreens)

Bi-monthly Calls: Alternating Tuesdays at 3:00 ET

The Patient and Consumer Participation in Direct workgroup is charged with encouraging and enabling Direct exchange between consumers/patients and healthcare professionals. The primary goal of this Workgroup is to ensure that the consumer/patient is an active member in health information exchange, shares decision making about their health, and is a co-producer of their health information.

Security and Trust Compliance Workgroup

Workgroup Chair(s): Luis Maas, MD, PhD (EMR Direct) and Jeff McDonald (Relay Health)

The DirectTrust Security and Trust Compliance workgroup’s primary mission is to create a program which can be used by HISPs to voluntarily apply, qualify, and thereby be able to attest, to having met or exceeded best practices for security and trust. The overall goal of DirectTrust.org is to help assure the stability and interoperability of Direct exchange implementations nationally, and to develop, promote, and as necessary enforce the best practices necessary to maintain security and trust within the Direct Community.

Trust Anchor Bundle Operations Workgroup

Workgroup Chair: Greg Meyer (Cerner Corporation)

Weekly Calls: Thursdays at 3:00 ET

The Trust Anchor Bundle Operations Workgroup’s objective is defining the policies and procedures for maintaining trust bundles within the DirectTrust community. This workgroup aims to define sets of trust bundle profiles and enumerate the criteria of inclusion in each bundle. Secondly, this workgroup’s goal is to define a trust bundle management workflow to facilitate the operational aspects of trust bundle management. Lastly, this workgroup is tasked with identifying the technical requirements to implement the trust bundle management workflow.
