Office Hours: Metadata and Payload via the Direct Standard® — Bring Your Own Use Case Workshop Series

August 5 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Event Series (See All)

Join this hands-on 12-week workshop designed to help participants develop a real-world Derivative Implementation Guide (IG) using the Metadata and Payload via the Direct Standard® Framework. This is a BYOUC — Bring Your Own Use Case workshop, where participants are encouraged to bring an actual interoperability challenge, workflow, or information exchange scenario they want to define and solve using Direct Secure Messaging.

Through alternating teaching sessions and collaborative working sessions, participants will learn how to:

  • Translate business problems into technical interoperability specifications
  • Define metadata and payload expectations
  • Develop actor and transaction models
  • Specify structured payload requirements
  • Document functional processing expectations
  • Address patient matching and endpoint capability considerations

Each participant will progressively build their own implementation guide while receiving feedback and critique from peers and instructors throughout the workshop. Whether you are working on event notifications, referrals, care coordination, public health reporting, payer exchange, patient-directed exchange, or another Direct-enabled workflow, this workshop provides a structured pathway from concept to implementation-ready specification. No prior standards authoring experience is required, though familiarity with Direct, HL7, CDA, FHIR, or healthcare interoperability concepts is helpful.
