A major takeaway from ViVE 2025 can be applied to the rapidly evolving healthcare industry or to the event itself: blink and you might miss it. Our team spent three days in Nashville last week for this highly-anticipated (and always fun) event. Though focused on the broader topic of digital health, we picked up on themes that surfaced throughout the event, and were pleased to see the industry trending in a direction that continues to emphasize the importance of trust.
We spent a majority of our time connecting directly with contacts new and old at our booth in the InteropNow! Pavilion, but we were also eager to participate in sessions and hear from esteemed speakers and engaging panels. The event inspired industry-wide conversations around the value of trust in our ever-evolving digital landscape and offered a platform for exploring credible solutions, like accreditation. We are energized by the new opportunities for collaboration and looking forward to seeing everyone at HIMSS next week!
Kelly Gwynn, Chief Operating Officer
ViVE 2025 gave us plenty to think about, particularly around AI’s growing role in healthcare. While there’s no shortage of interest, many unanswered questions remain, especially when it comes to regulation. The industry is moving fast, but the framework for responsible AI adoption is still taking shape.
As a non-profit exhibitor in the InteropNow! Pavilion, we emphasized our focus on collaboration and interoperability. We had great conversations at our booth, with strong interest in our accreditation and HITRUST services, underscoring the industry’s priority on security and compliance. One thing is clear: ViVE reinforced that while uncertainty exists, the momentum for innovation and trust in healthcare is stronger than ever.
Lesley Berkeyheiser, Senior Assessor
As an Assessor, events like ViVE provide a unique opportunity to connect firsthand with stakeholders from across the healthcare ecosystem and hear their perspectives on data security and current policies and regulations. It was clear that attendees, including many interesting new startup companies, are seeking a means of showcasing their ability to securely manage confidential health data, and I found that many stakeholders find value in trusted third-party assessment.
Many exhibitors and vendors, particularly in the Interoperability and Cybersecurity pavilions, showcased their ability to integrate AI into their functionality. As AI impacts us all, we need to make sure the introduction of this process and the resulting data into our environments is conducted by careful threat/risk analysis so that all benefits and challenges are weighed before integration takes place. It’s clear that the current technology has evolved more quickly than standards can be developed, and as an industry, those standards will be critical.
Of course, the puppies and the headshots were two additional highlights, but this conference was well-attended and informative for our industry. Time well spent spreading the word on how to scale and secure trust in our environment!
Susan Flynn, Director of Accreditation Operations
For me, a highlight of ViVE was the opportunity to connect. Attendees had the chance to network with industry leaders and peers on the bustling exhibitor hall floor and share knowledge and insights throughout the robust schedule. A significant focus among speakers and attendees alike was the evolving field of AI in healthcare. Sessions showcased the latest applications and explored advancements surrounding this transformative technology. Exhibitors further enhanced the experience, showcasing a diverse range of cutting-edge healthcare solutions and further fostering valuable connections.
It was encouraging to connect with attendees, specifically those seeking cost-effective solutions for demonstrating HIPAA privacy and security compliance, many of whom showed considerable interest in learning more about our accreditation programs. I look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to further enhance trust and security in our industry.
Scott Stuewe, President and CEO
ViVE always provides a great opportunity to get a birds-eye view of what is happening in the digital health realm, and to reconnect with colleagues across the industry. While hot and cold running AI seemed to be in everyone’s booth, digital identity is also playing a new and central role in solutions and strategies. New alliances between identity providers and national networks demonstrate how essential these strategies are for interoperability.
I was most excited to see conversations around identity focused on provider credentials in addition to consumers with an interest in getting access to their own records. As we move forward, considering how we federate digital identity is critical to how we scale trust in healthcare, especially as new technology arises. DirectTrust recently launched our Identity Provider Accreditation Program criteria for 60 day public comment in support of the digital identity ecosystem.
This attention to digital identity, along with the ongoing interest in cybersecurity and interoperability, demonstrate that our tripartite focus for this year’s DirectTrust conference (themed “The Intersection of Interoperability, Identity, and Cybersecurity”) will be timely and well appreciated. The intersection of these three topics, and educating those assembled to the interrelated nature of them, should be a valuable opportunity for healthcare experts and observers alike.
