Information Exchange for Human Services

The Information Exchange for Human Services (IX4HS) project will evaluate and identify existing and developing standards (such as the Direct Standard™), or create new standards or profiles as needed, for the secure communication of sensitive information between healthcare settings and Human Services organizations as well as between Human Services organizations for the purposes of endpoint discovery, referral, information exchange, information requests, and care coordination.

The work of IX4HS is not meant to replace or supplant the many groups dedicated to addressing secure information exchange related to SDoH, like The Gravity ProjectProject Unify360x, and HL7’s SDoH-related work. Rather, IX4HS is meant to focus in on how Direct might work in conjunction with these organizations, teams, standards, and workflows to make the largest and most immediate impact through a profile possibly leveraging Direct.

The Consensus Body is currently seeking voting members in the following DirectTrust Standards categories:

  • Healthcare Sector
  • Government Sector
  • Healthcare Payer Sector
  • Consumer Sector and General Interest
  • Information Technology Sector
  • Interoperability and Systems Integration Sector
